Progress!

Sarah and Baby Addi, she will be two weeks old on Thursday! Big yawn!
Look at big girl wearing clothes! Sarah had just finished changing her diaper and checking her temperature! It was so sweet and special.
As of last night, Addi weighed 4.5lbs. Chubby cheeks!

They have stopped feeding her for a few days, to give her tummy a break. She wasn't tolerating the food too well. The good news is that she acted hungry today when Sarah was holding her and was even rooting around! We visited with her for over an hour.

We are having a shower for Sarah Thursday night at Debbie's, should be fun. Thanks for your continued prayers.

and more...

Beginings of the nursery...

Mom came to paint Baby Colton's nursery yesterday, how sweet of Ellie! The paint looks like 2 totally different colors in these pictures. SO weird. The color of the room is "playful pool!" Very impressed that my handy hubby, who is not so handy, assembled the crib all by himself. The pic above is the crib on the window wall. I am weird and I didn't like the thought of Colton being on the outside wall, but it may have to work that way in order to get all the furniture in his tiny room!

This is the crib on an interior wall, but it take s up too much space. I guess we can still mess around with it. Headed home now to put together the combo unit/changing table. Cross your fingers that daddy can accomplish this task too!
Thanks to granny and gramps (GiGi and EC) for the crib! We are so happy with it, can't wait to put our little boy in it!

Crazy days

Wow, I haven't updated in a while. I will start with me and move on to the Sarah/Baby Addi update.

I went yesterday for my glucose retest. Let's just say I am now being treated for gestational diabetes. For the next 11 weeks I will be taking my blood sugar (pricking my finger), journal sugar levels, and food intakes. Not too bad, it could be a lot worse! Anything for Baby Colton. I go next Thursday for my education class and for training on the meter. If anything this will be a healthier lifestyle!

I have been working quite a bit at the preschool. In service starts next week and the kids come on Thursday. I am so excited to start back to school. I need a little routine in my life.

Mom is at the house now painting Colton's nursery. We are so excited to get it all put together. As soon as the painting is finished we can assemble furniture and get to business!

Sarah is home and recovering. She seems to be doing very well and goes to the hospital once or twice a day to drop off breast milk and visit with Addi. She has one more week of no driving. Sarah's brother is getting married tomorrow, I am so happy she is able to attend the wedding!

Addi is still in the NICU, but doing well. They are administering meds to help close the hole in her heart. As soon as it closes they can start trying to feed her! I think she weighs over 4 lbs now! Please keep praying for the Huffmans!!

Olympic Fever

I know I am not alone in all the excitement that is surrounding the Olympics. It is pretty pitiful, but if we are not right there in front of the tv, we DVR it for future viewing. Josh and I have lost several hours of sleep due to late night gymnastics, swimming, and track events. I am amazed at the determination and athleticism of the athletes. I could not imagine, walking across a 4 ft beam let alone flipping backwards on one! Debbie and I proceeded to watch the women's marathon last night, boring--but amazing. Wonder what we will do when the Olympics are over...

We went to visit Sarah, Jim, and Addi last night. Sarah looks and feels so much better, she is off all of her IV's and is getting around some on her own. She is especially sore b/c there was no numbing agent given before the C-section. They just had to knock her out and take the baby. She walked to the nursery and back yesterday. Addi is struggling some to breath, so they have put her on an oxygen hood. She is still very feisty and has only lost 1 ounce! I sent Josh, Don, and Debbie back with Jim last night to see her since I had the night before. Sarah and I were able to visit alone while they were gone. She was giving me some "heads up" info regarding childbirth and after care--fun stuff! Makes me a little anxious! Josh and Don had a little too much fun last ngith with the rubber gloves, biohazard bags, and other goodies they "found" in the hospital. I am really in for it when Colton arrives! We had to make Josh leave, because it was hurting Sarah to laugh! Sarah goes home tomorrow. Please pray for her mind and spirit, it will be so hard to leave precious Addi in the NICU!

I have a busy week ahead of me! Neuro appointment tomorrow. Babysitting on Tuesday. Work meeting on Wednesday. Second Diabetes test Thursday. On Friday, I plan to veg in the pool! We start preschool next week! Where has the summer gone?!?!?

Baby Addi is here!

Margaret Addison Huffman
3.14 lbs, 16 inches
Well, we received the "call" from Jim last night around 11:15. Sarah was having an emergency c-section. Jim was leaving work, and made it there just after Addi was born. Sarah had to have a blood transfusion because she has lost so much blood. They put her all the way under, so no one could go back with her. Addi was breathing on her own last night. She was struggling a bit, but doing very well. She is feisty and lots of hair! We saw Sarah just before 3 am, they were wheeling her into her room. She had just gone by the nursery to see her sweet baby girl for the first time! Thanks for all of your prayers, I will update later!

Introducing...Colton Michael Mays

Hello!
Swoopy baby!
Josh's lips and frown! I think he has his chin too!
"I'm trying to sleep, leave me alone!"
This was Colton's best shot today!
So, this morning was my Glucose test, for those of you are not sure what this is--its a test for gestational diabetes. I had to drink a glucose solution an hour before my test, and then they take blood. Well, I failed. This means I will retest next Thursday after a fast. If I fail again, I will be on the diabetes diet for the rest of my pregnancy! Fun!
We also found out that Colton is breech, he has plenty of time to turn himself around! He measured at 2.14 lbs and I was told that he is a big boy. I am 27 weeks and 4 days and he measures at 29 weeks! He is in the 74th percentile--he is rather large!
My blood pressure was great and I have gained 3 more pounds. She is happy with my weight gain--12 pounds total. All in all it was a good day, until.............
I had not eaten in 15 hours and I was starving! We headed over for breakfast at Perkins. So very excited about the omelet and pancakes, I dove in. After indulging for a bit-- put my fork down, looked over to my mom and said "I am done." From this point on you may not want to read...I proceeded to regurgitate all of my breakfast and the lovely glucose solution right there on my breakfast plate. I am surprised mom and Josh were not wearing it. Guess the glucose did not agree with my empty stomach! How embarrassing, right there in the middle of Perkins. The poor waitress! I did feel much better after expelling of the nasty stuff.
I hope there is no more glucose in my future!
Went to visit sweet Sarah in the hospital today. She is now 32 weeks and the baby weighs 4.6 lbs, which is great. They still want her to hold out to 36 weeks, but her bleeding has increased. We are hosting a shower for her at the hospital in 2 weeks...if she makes it that long!

more shower pics

Can't see it, but these are Memphis Booties from aunt Sue!
Josh had one of these when he was a kid!
Yay! Memphis Tigers gear!

Family and Lake Crew Couples shower

Me and the Lovely Hostesses. Everything was Perfect! Thanks "T" and Suz!
Colton's Mommy and Daddy to be.
Colton's bedding. Thanks Lake crew! We are painting the room the bluish color in the bedding. It has a turquoise hue to it. SO excited to get started on the room. The bedding also has a very thin black stripe in it, which will go great with the black furniture! We received our crib and changing table last night, can't wait for them to come in!

Jay and Angie made this diaper cake for us, we are accenting Colton's room in monkeys--hence the one on the top. Love the diaper cake, don't want to take it apart! It is stuffed with lotions, shampoos, etc! It was a great centerpiece for the food table.
We had so much fun at our couples shower last night. It was hosted by family and lake friends. Josh and I are so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people. Thank you all!
Colton's due date is 3 months from today! 92 days! Wow.

Colton's Great Aunt Tracey

This is my aunt Tracey from Virginia, we had so much fun this week. We can't wait for her to come back! She is already in the process of spoiling Colton!

Family Visits

The Mike Meier's have been here, visiting from Virginia. It has been so nice having the "whole" Meier clan around. Josh and I arrived home from the lake on Sunday night and headed straight to Granny's for pizza night. Everyone was there, except for Josh and Kim--who are soaking up the sun in Jamaica! Monday, some of the ladies shopped and the guys golfed. We met at Newks for a light dinner. Tuesday was Josh's birthday, so we went for a nice dinner at J Alexander with The Mays and Smiths. Wednesday, the crew had one last dinner together at Olive Garden. We went back to the Ware's to celebrate the birthdays of: Granny, Mike, Me, Alyssa, Josh, Grandpa, and Paige (august and july birthdays). As you can see, we did a lot of eating! Mike, Tracey, Anthony, and Jake have hit the road and are headed back home. Maybe Tracey will find her way back after Colton's arrival!

Sarah is still in the hospital and is expected to stay until Addi arrives. They want her to hold out until 34-36 weeks. She is at 31 right now. I know it is frustrating for her to be there, but it is the best place for her. Keep praying for Addi to continue growing, and for Sarah's nerves to stay calm.

I am sad to see summer coming to an end, but I am starting to get really bored! I long for school to start and to get back to a routine. This also means we are getting closer to meeting our sweet Colton. Less than 100 days to his due date! I need to get working on that nursery!

Today I am babysitting for the Baltz's. We have been watching it rain all day! The girls are disappointed because they wanted to swim!

Tomorrow night is our first couples shower. It is hosted by family and lake friends! I am so excited.

Jamie

_will post pics from the weekend later!
