i like to dress colton "my way," josh says its fine--most of the time. i get to dress him in whatever i like with the exception of a few--occasional sports themed outfits that make my 7 week old look like an 18 year old. oh well, at least its only some of the time.
go tigers!
btw, colton has not missed a single tiger home game since he was born! true tiger fan!

"the girls are back in town"

nanci, anne, james, and stephanie
this past year, three of my sweet friends from preschool moved out of state. nanci and her family have relocated to georgia, anne and her family to arizona, and stephanie's family to colorado. they all came home for christmas and we were able to get together at our favorite little mexican restaurant. it was so good to see my buddies!

7 weeks

Colton Michael
7 weeks
We hope you all had a nice and relaxing holiday. Ours was busy, but nice and quiet--for the most part! We are still dealing with acid reflux, but he seems to have some relief. We go to the Dr on the 5th of January for his 2 month shots :( We will talk with Dr Miller more about the reflux at that time. Coley takes about 5 ounces of formula every 3 hours and 6 ounces with a bit of cereal before bed. He sleeps at night for about 4 hours at a time, and he is spending a lot more time awake during the day--which is so much fun. He loves his swing -- but really loves laying flat on his back.
Mom and I are taking him to visit my grandparents down on the coast on the 8th of January. My grandfather flew thru briefly when Colton was 10 days old and was able to visit for an hour or so. Can't wait for my grandma to meet him!
I start back to school on the 6th, and believe it or not, I am really excited to get back to work. i will miss my sweet boy so much, but it is only for a few hours 3 days a week! I think it will be good for both of us.

new calming tactics

the above peaceful pictures are a result of....

this! ahh, the serene sound of a running jacuzzi tub. when colton is hysterical--this is our new saving grace! he was out like a light within 2 minutes of running the water. we are so thankful to lisa, shelly, and all the other "wise" ladies from the kitchen for teaching me this trick. colton can be screaming his head off and as soon as you enter the bathroom with the water running, he is silent!

6 weeks old

colton loves his baths! if he is fussy this is a great-fast way to calm him down. he also just likes to hear the running water, oh the things you learn!
dad was out of town for 10 days and when he came home he was sick, it had been 2 weeks since he had held colton. yay, mitchie is back!

colton michael
6 weeks, 3 days
13.3 lbs!
we had to go to the dr this week. colton has been congested, sleeping and eating less, and spitting up--which he didnt really do for the first 5 weeks. dr miller is treating him for acid reflux, with prevacid. we go back in 2 weeks for our 2 month check up. can you believe he weighs a whopping 13.3 lbs?!?!?!

high school girls annual christmas party

coley was 1 of 2 boys who were "allowed" to attend the party, not sure how many years we have been doing it. seems to be over 10. stephanie opened her home up to us, thanks tep!

new found love

colton has decided that he is ok with his bouncy/vibrating seat. look how happy he is! this makes mommy happy too!
coley is 5 weeks and 5 days old today--he is growing and changing so much. (the growing part is so obvious!) i cannot believe in just 2 days he will be 6 weeks old. we are so blessed to have him in our lives. today we stayed home and were lazy, it was so cold outside--warm and snug inside. we will hit the ground running again tomorrow! there is a tiger game tomorrow night and we have his tiger gear ready. thursday is my post partum check up and then we are headed to the preschool to visit our friends. friday night, he is my date for the annual high school friends christmas party. we have been getting together for over 12 years! saturday we will hopefully go to the tiger game and then to another christmas party--busy schedule for colton! i am trying to squeeze in some time for zoo lights, not sure if that will happen.

stretching out

one of coleys favorite things to do is lay on his back and stretch out. he kicks his legs and swings his arms, i love it! he will do this sometimes for 30 minutes at a time.
rocko was babysitting again while we cooked/ate dinner, thanks roxy!

we conquered...

the swing!!!
well, sometimes! some days he is cool with it, and some days not. oh well, i'll take any time i can get. ya know time to potty, wash bottles, brush my teeth---you get the point!

my sweet coley is 5 weeks old today! i still can't believe he is here. baby boy is growing so fast and changing so much!

mommyhood 101

so, when daddy is at work and ellie is out of town (so jealous--they are in florida for their 30th anniversary) I need to get some things done! No, im not talking about cooking or cleaning--i am talking about simple things...a shower, brushing my teeth, going to the bathroom! colton loves to lay on the changing table in his diaper and look around. he kicks his legs and waves his arms and has now started babbling to himself. this pic was taken after i had stolen a shower...but still needed to brush my teeth and get dressed.
once again i messed up the posting of the pic

this is how i managed to shower today, coley was in his car seat--in the bathroom with me! i was even able to shave my legs!!! please don't turn me in to dhs!

such a big boy!

look at me! i'm such a big boy! i am getting so good at holding up my head and looking around. mommy couldnt catch a good picture of it, but posted this one anyway! whenever anyone holds me, all i want to do is raise my head and look around (well, look at any light with total amazement--daddy says i will be a widespread panic fan!)

this is one of my christmas outfits, mommy went psycho over christmas clothing!

Emmie's 30th Birthday!
My super sweet friend Emily turned 30 this week, or as another friend - Jennifer called it turning twenty ten. Love it! Some of us girls from school met Emmie at La Ha to celebrate. After out meal, every employee there came out with instruments and the GINORMOUS sombrero, and sang to our buddy! It was a nice night of catching up for me. I miss all of my girls from school!
Happy Birthday Emmie!

friends are fun!

are these not the cutest feet you have ever seen?!?!?
check out the previous post for more cute jammie photos!

sat night we headed over to the conways to hang out with our buddies and watch the game. i bought the sweetest matching jammies for colton and addie, so we had to take some pics!

addie is 12 weeks older than colton, but he outweighs her. what a chunk!

4 weeks old!

Coley is now 4 weeks old! Time has passed so fast, makes me sad sometimes. We think he weighs around 12 lbs. We didn't have the most accurate way to weigh him. Here's how it went...Josh stepped on moms scale and weighed 3 consecutive times. he got the same number each time. He then stepped on while holding Coley, three consecutive times and got the same number. this was a difference of 12 lbs!! He is taking 5 oz of formula every 2 to 3 hours. Sleeping well, and is awake more often. He can be so alert and focused, its precious!
We are moving back home today, the painting is complete. Our floors will be done after the holidays, I want to decorate--so the floors can wait!

so swoopy

Kaci came to visit Coley this week. He was very awake and alert the whole time she was here. Josh and I entertained her with the wii for a bit. We can't wait for her to come back and see us..maybe then we can go visit Baby Evan!
Heading to preschool to visit our friends!

So swoopy! I love to nap in my boppy!

figures...

when researching swings for colton, i wasn't exactly sure what i was looking for. i basically read all the reviews and specs for each on target.com and babies r us. i narrowed those down, then josh and i checked them out at the stores. we decided on one from babies r us, around 100 dollars. i was excited, and this swing became a piece of our living room "furniture." well, colton came home and around day four-- i need to brush my teeth and use the bathroom, so i thought "hey, lets put him in the swing!" UM, he said no with various pitched screams and shrills. since then we have tried several times, he has never lasted more than 10 minutes.

well, we have been staying at moms since Sunday. mom's friend Sue gave her a hand me down swing from her sweet granddaughters. it is a travel swing, no big deal--sits low to the floor. the main point here is... it was free--didn't cost $100! this is what sweet colton thinks of the "gently used" free swing....

Oops pic is at beginning of post, cant figure these pics out!

"sip and see"

ellie and colton, my poor mom has something crazy going on with her right eye. going to get it checked out today!
Ellie, Colton (3 weeks/5days), and James
wish you could see his precious outfit, a sweet white smocked little number. barley buttoned around his chunky neck! at least we were able to wear it once!
my moms golf girls and some bowling buddies hosted a "sip and see" yesterday for colton. it was such a nice day, everyone "sipped" various beverages and passed colton around so they could all "see" him. angie, the hostess made a delicious rum cake--so good. i don't even like rum cake. so yummy. they also showered us with gifts, precious outfits and more. we are so blessed and thankful to be surrounded by such caring and thoughtful people.

~side note, because i liked this cake so much i inquired about the recipe. she pulled it from a cookbook, The Cake Mix Doctor by Anne Byrn. totally my gig b/c i am not a baker, but wish i was. everything starts from a cake mix and she doctors it up. she also has a cookbook called, The Dinner Doctor. i still want to attempt one of emily's recipes--but until i work up the courage, ill try the dinner dr!

sweet memories...

catchin some z's with ellie, his favorite place to be is on someones chest!

uncle joshie feeding me a bottle! i know this bib looks ginormous--but it serves the purpose and fits around his fat neck!
